Book review

Everyone who loves animals will have to say goodbye to them sooner or later.
For many of us, this is a major event that is not always understood by those around us. The very existence of this book is a relief. Although several books have been written on the subject of pet death, this book is a truly practical book. It has been written specifically to help you as an owner or carer say goodbye to your beloved pet. It does not always have to be death, there are many reasons for saying goodbye.

Animals are in our lives for different reasons. They fulfil different roles, for example as a mirror of your behaviour or as a healer, offering unconditional friendship without judgement. When you know the role of your animal in your life, it is easier to understand that the relationship with such an animal can also end when the process is complete.

An important part of the book focuses on this difficult decision and preparing for death. How do you know when it is time to call the vet and how do you guide your pet to that moment? Tools are provided, both practical and spiritual. They are described by means of beautiful examples from the author’s practice, such as that of the horse Phantom, who wanted to go for a last ride with his owner.

But the book goes much further. Attention is paid to the grieving process, to learning how to deal with the emptiness left behind by an animal. Especially in the case of a sudden parting, you may be left with many questions. Why did my pet have such a short life? Was it in pain, is it well now? And what should I do next, is there room in my life for a new pet?

The author, Mirjam Diepenbrock, has been working as an animal communicator, healer and life coach with the help of animals for almost 20 years. In a wonderfully no-nonsense way, she tells anecdotes about the relationship between humans and animals, in her own life and that of her clients. Beautiful stories, moving stories, but above all, hopeful stories. Because there is so much more to discover and so much more we can do to deepen our connection with animals. You will also learn how to connect with your animal through practical exercises and tips.

Absolutely unique are the beautiful Angel Cards for dealing with loss and grief. Each one is a gem with messages from the universe that can give you that little push in the right direction.

The book reads like a good novel and offers valuable tips on how to prepare yourself and your pet for the impending goodbye. In fact, it should be on the website of every vet and animal therapist.

What readers say:

I’m so touched by your words and this is really helping me to get over my grief for my beloved cat Molly.

This book has so much to say about what an animal goes through when they die. The transition for our loved ones is something we can learn from as well. I now know that death is something we have created in the western world, there is so much more to come. I love the way the circle of creation is expressed in your book.

This book is so helpful. I hope that vets or pet crematoriums can use this book to support the grieving owners.

Introduction of my book

It hurts to have to say goodbye to a beloved four-legged animal or pet. Some animals will be in your life for a very short time and you wonder: “Why?” You want to feel good about the decision to put your animal down and it would be nice to have a confirmation from their side as well. Some animals will connect with you from the universe. How do you deal with this? And what is the response of the animal towards farewells and grief? What about the reincarnation of animals?

I’ve been working as an animal communicator, healer, mentor, and life coach helping animals and their caretakers. These questions and issues have arisen many times in my personal and professional life. In this book I’ve gathered many of my personal experiences and insights so I can share these with you.

The deeper the understanding as to how we are connected to the universe, the more boundless experience we will have. Because of my own near-death experience and through the close-up observations of humans and animals in my work, I feel that “death” certainly doesn’t exist. We are souls, infinitely connected. Animals are here to help and support us through our daily struggles so that we become more conscious of ourselves.

Grief and sorrow are real emotions. Animals suffer grief just like humans do. After heartache and sorrow, we will once again be able to get up and get on. There is a continuous cycle of death and rebirth after something in our lives comes to an end. This might happen because of a four-legged animal that passed, but it could also be because of a divorce or a burnout.

Animals let us experience how we can balance between the earthly tasks and heavenly light. Especially deceased pets or farm-animals which are pure and enlightened, can give us signals and emotional guidance. A white feather which is like a fluttering heart from the Universe could be a sign. Apart from that a telepathic connection between your (deceased) animal and you is possible, using an animal communicator as your mouthpiece. Angel cards can give you confirmation in decision making or support you through heartache. I have created angel cards specifically for this book to assist you on your journey with your animals.

You don’t have to be spiritually inclined or an animal communicator to understand the contents of this book. I am grounded and have a practical approach and through my experience I am aware what you as a reader might be looking for. My intention is -through the use of my own experiences- to make animal owners or carers aware how we as souls are connected. Apart from that I am always guided by the beautiful insights from animals. I’d like to emphasize how important it is to consciously say goodbye to your animal and how to go through the process of grieving in such a way that you can feel at peace.

For now, I wish you many magical reading moments.
