As a vet I am confronted with the moment where people have to say goodbye to their beloved animal on a regular basis. I see them struggle with the choice of a ‘good’ moment and the sadness for their big friend. The grieving process is not always understood and there is no space for such things in our society, unfortunately. My job as a counsellor for animals consists of giving well-considered medical advice and discussion of all possibilities and practicalities. However, the final decision is not mine and I cannot oversee and take away all the emotions that come with this. What I can do, is recommend this book. For everyone who is open to spiritual help this book will offer comfort, resignation, and clarity in (the moving towards) the moment of farewell and the sadness and mourning that follow.
